Here’s Your Financial Aid Roadmap in 6 Easy Steps

01 :: Apply for Admission

Complete the free online application, send your high school transcript and ACT/SAT test scores for review. An admission decision is made within two weeks after your file is complete.

02 :: Receive an Instant Merit Scholarship

Once you’ve been admitted, you will be awarded a Maryville College merit scholarship. This is based on your ACT/SAT superscores and high school GPA. Your merit award letter will be included in your acceptance packet. Students can try to increase their merit scholarship by retaking the ACT/SAT through the summer before they enroll at MC.

This is only a “starting point,” meaning that the total award may increase based on completing Steps #3 and #4 of this checklist.

03 :: Apply for MC Competitive Scholarships & Awards

Maryville College has several competitive scholarships that are based on separate applications, auditions and/or interviews. Deadlines for these applications vary. If a student cannot travel to campus for their audition/interview, they may contact the scholarship coordinator for other arrangements.

04 :: File the FAFSA

The first step in filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is apply for your FSA ID. Student and parent(s) must create separate FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov. The FAFSA is submitted online starting October 1st. You will use your 2018 tax and income information and you can use the IRS Date Retrieval Tool to import your tax information into the FAFSA. Families are encouraged to file the FAFSA as early as possible since some federal funding is on a first-come, first-served basis. To send your FAFSA to Maryville College, please add MC to your list of selected schools by using the Maryville College code 003505.

Maryville College's Financial Aid Office will receive your FAFSA in three business days.

05 :: Watch For Your Financial Aid Package

The Financial Aid Office will determine your federal and state aid based on the results of the FAFSA and your academic achievements. Federal and state aid includes:

Distribution of estimated financial aid packages begins in December. Your Admissions Counselor will contact you to discuss your financial aid package details and provide you with a cost worksheet.

06 :: Consider Additional Financial Aid Options

You always have options at Maryville College. For example, the Federal Parent PLUS Loan program is available to help fund a Maryville education based on the parent's credit. Even if the parent is denied the loan, the student will be offered additional Direct Loan funds. Maryville College offers monthly payment plans through NELNET My College Payment Plan. A payment plan is a convenient, interest free way to pay for your tuition balance over the course of the semester,  allowing for smaller, more affordable payments. Please visit our Payment Plan page for further details or contact your Admissions Counselor directly.

In addition, apply for outside scholarships! Your high school guidance counselor is a great resource for local scholarships available for first-year students. Also, research online at College Board and ACT.org for additional national scholarships. Millions of dollars of scholarships go unclaimed every year, and you can't gain anything if you don't apply for them!

FAQs

How do I apply for Financial Aid at Maryville College?

After October 1st, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you plan on signing the FAFSA electronically, you and your parent (if you are a dependent student) must apply for a FSA ID. You may apply for a FSA ID at www.fsaid.ed.gov. In order for your FAFSA to be sent to Maryville College please add our school code (003505) to the application.  Once we receive your FAFSA, you will be sent an estimated financial aid package. Your Admissions Counselor will go over the details of the package with you.
