The College:

Maryville College is a nationally-ranked institution of higher learning and one of America’s oldest colleges. For more than 200 years, we’ve educated students to be giving citizens and gifted leaders, to study everything, so that they are prepared for anything — to address any problem, engage with any audience and launch successful careers right away. The College offers its students both the beauty of a rural setting and the advantages of an urban center, as well as more than 60 majors, seven pre-professional programs and career preparation from their first day on campus to their last. Maryville College is ideally situated on 263-acres in Maryville, Tenn., between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Knoxville, the state’s third largest city. Easy to access from either I-40 or I-75, the campus is also just five miles away from McGhee Tyson Airport.

Enrollment:

Current enrollment is 1,148 men and women, representing approximately 40 states, the District of Columbia and 30 other countries.

Faculty:

Eighty-seven percent of full-time faculty members have doctoral degrees or appropriate terminal degrees. The student-faculty ratio is 12:1, with an average class size of 17. Personalized instruction and student-professor contact are the hallmarks of a Maryville College education.

Programs of Study:

More than 60 majors are offered, along with seven pre-professional programs. At the core are traditional liberal arts programs of study, such as fine arts, history, math, sciences, languages and literature. Degrees awarded include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science. Certification is available in elementary and secondary education, nonprofit leadership and ministry and church leadership. Dual-degree programs are offered in engineering, health care/nursing, biopharmaceutical sciences and veterinary science.

Athletics:

A member of the NCAA’s Division III, the College offers 15 varsity sports. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer and tennis. Women’s sports include basketball, cheerleading, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Club sports include an equestrian team and dance. Intramural sports are also offered.
